V6 was like the icing on the Cake (that's a joke).

Cake added a lot of workflow improvements in the past 3 upgrades. My gut tells me that Sonar might have an edge here but it's too early for me to say for sure. I'm so used to Sonar I keep trying to find similar editing functions in Sam and it seems like they are there but some of it is hidden behind menus. Sam can be configured with different "skins" which completely changes the look and feel of the interface. I think Sonar might have an edge here in terms of GUI customization but time will tell on that too. You can change some of that too in Sam but I'm not sure yet how much is configurable. Sonar's default color schemes always annoyed me right out of the box. I like the default colors and everything is clean and simple. I'm still looking for something to not like about Sam's GUI and nothing is annoying me (yet). If it doesn't do CD text then it's lacking.Ĥ) The GUI. Not sure how Sam Pro measures up to CD Architect. Sonar lacks the CD authoring features but I already have CD Architect and have found that particular program to be fine for my needs. SamPro has built-in CD-R authoring and some really nice mastering plugs. Someone told me not too long ago that I would love Sam Pro because of it's mastering tools. I think I would normally try to avoid them too but there it is so deal with it.ģ) Mastering. I understand why some people abhor dongles. I had to think about that a bit before I bought the program. This is the first program I've ever owned that uses one. I didn't find the dongle thing to be a problem though.

SamPro ships with an abridged user manual and a larger PDF file. This might help anyone looking to make a purchasing decision one way or another.ġ) The manual. For right now, just general initial observations. Over time I will have more intimate information. I've been using Sonar for about 4 years now. Thought I would start a new thread and post some observations.
